"I am sent to thee by Themistocles, son of Neocles, who is the leader of the Athenians, and the wisest and bravest man of all the allies to bear thee this message: Themistocles the Athenian, anxious to render thee a service, has restrained the Greeks who were impatient to pursue thy ships, and to break up the bridges at the Hellespont. Now therefore, return home at thy leisure."

The conclusion to the Persian Wars! And when the new 300 movie comes out in March you can be that person in the theater, snorting and huffing at all the historical inaccuracies going on while everyone tells you to shush. That can't just be me, right?
Hey Rob, just wondering if you're still doing the podcast? You do a great job, my son and I listen at bath time. Please don't make me go back listening to the wiggles!
ReplyDeleteNo no I'm still here! I'm just horribly unable to balance being a first year teacher with 11 hour days and finding time to write for the podcast. Fear not! 35 is imminent, and Athenian bickering and political struggle will quickly subdue wiggles songs!
DeleteGreat job Rob. Keep it coming! Will be interested in paid membership--perhaps you can make this your day job!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I wish this could be my day job too but alas, I need some way to feed myself and pay off all my student loans! As for paid memberships I just don't see myself instituting it. I'm always grateful to those who donate a little money but the happiest you can make me is just by talking about what I'm doing. Oh and voting for me once the podcast awards take place ;)
DeleteYou know some podcasts, like the bugle, do a voluntary subscription. Not a bad compromise between offering free content and maybe getting some financial reward for all your hard work.
Deletep.s. Loving the podcast, thanks a lot!
I've only just found your podcast after deciding that 6 times through Mike Duncan's "History of Rome" meant I should branch out. You've done an excellent job here and reawakened my love of Herodotos. Looking forward to 035!
